Exploring Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs)

Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) affect approximately one-quarter of the global population and are a major occupational issue in the United States. MSDs can also be exacerbated by or the result of daily activities/hobbies. Knowing this, it’s likely that some Pilates clients have these types of injuries so it’s important to understand the risk factors associated with developing MSDs. This will enable you to recognize these risk factors in the exercises to ensure they don’t aggravate and/or cause symptoms.
What you’ll learn:
- Learn the definition of Musculoskeletal Disorders and the risk factors associated with developing them.
- Be able to identify the neutral posture of the body’s joints and how deviating from them lessens strength.
- Explore some common MSDs of the upper body starting at the wrist and working up to the neck.
- Obtain tips on placement suggestions for computer monitors.
