My 1st Year as a BOD

Author: Patricia Stevenson

It’s hard to imagine three-quarters of the year have passed since joining the Pilates Method Alliance Board of Directors. Being a part of something larger than my own practice and working with other Pilates enthusiasts around the world to shape our organization has truly been rewarding. We may come from different Pilates schools, backgrounds and locations, but we meet to share common goals: to perpetuate the teachings of Joseph and Clara Pilates, to increase the awareness of Pilates globally, to establish standards for education, and to promote Pilates as a profession. As a fitness regimen that improves posture, increases flexibility, and provides a lifelong method of exercise. Pilates has universal appeal. It has enriched my own life, and I enjoy sharing my passion with others in my work with the ITTAP program.

Learning the global landscape and working with training providers from across the globe has not only been enriching, it has helped me to see that the Method has withstood the test of time as it continues to expand around the world, transforming lives not only in the United States, but China, South America and Australia.

I look forward to the coming years of my term, as we open the application period for ITTAP, and establishing relationships within the Pilates community, expanding the reach of the Pilates Method Alliance as the leading organization for Pilates enthusiasts and professionals.
