Helpful Notes for PMA Certified Pilates Teachers™ (PMA-CPTs):

1) Recertification Reminders for PMA-CPTs

Please make note of the following:

CASTLE Worldwide, Inc. will email PMA-CPTs recertification reminder notices 6 months, 3 months and 1 month prior to expiration. Please make sure that CASTLE has the correct email address for this purpose.

CASTLE Worldwide, Inc. will also mail PMA-CPTs a paper recertification reminder to the home address they have on file 6 months prior to expiration.
The PMA recommends that PMA-CPTs make a note of their recertification dates in their own personal calendars.

2) Recertification Requirements for PMA-CPTs

The PMA requires all PMA-CPTs to earn 16 CECs every 2 years in order to maintain their PMA certified status.

10 hours of credit must be from PMA approved CEC workshops
6 hours may be from accredited college or university exercise science, biomechanics or anatomy coursework
CPR certification, or renewing your CPR certification, will count as 3 PMA approved CEC hours. Find a class at http://www.americanheart.org/cpr

3) Petitioning for CEC credits

If you are unable to locate a PMA approved CEC provider near you, you may petition for up to 10 credits for non-PMA approved workshops. Please submit the bullet pointed items below relating to the workshops you wish to receive credit for to the PMA office for review, prior to sending your recertification form and fee to CASTLE Worldwide.

Please be aware that as of 2009, a petition will only be approved if the workshop is presented by a PMA Certified Pilates Teacher™ (delivering Pilates-based content), or a licensed healthcare professional or person with a relevant degree (delivering non-Pilates content).

If you want to submit workshops completed in 2007 or 2008, it is not required that the teacher was a PMA-CPT. This guideline came into effect in 2009.

5) Becoming a CEC Provider

If you would like to become a PMA CEC Provider, or if you’d like to renew PMA approval for workshops already previously approved, please download the appropriate attachment below. Any given workshop is given a maximum of 12 CEC hours on a calendar year basis. Please note all workshop approvals expire on December 31 of a given year.

6) Terminology

The workshop teacher is called PMA Presenter
The workshop is called PMA CEC
The provider is called PMA CEC Provider
